Country music songwriter and performer, Ernest Tubb was born near Crisp, TX. After recording for RCA Victor and Decca, he joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1943. His own radio program, Midnight Jamboree, helped launch the careers of the Everly Brothers and Elvis Presley. His drawling vocal style, unaffected lyrics, and espousal of the electric guitar made him a major influence on honky tonk music. Ernest Tubb was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1965. ~Source: biography.com
